Attack of the Clones -------------------- tagline: A Jedi Shall Not Know Anger. Nor Hatred. Nor Love. No booty?! No wonder why Ani motors over to the dark side. Sproing! -Major wood. This is what Episode I wanted to be. This flick actually has some heart/meat to it and is as least as solid as the original Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back. People estimate that the money lost from people calling in sick will cost American businesses 3 billion dollars today. Seeing as how that is only a mere fraction of worldcom's debtload, I would have to say that is a deal worth every penny! good things about the film: Yoda's lightsaber kicks ass! Correct use of CGI: minimal jarjar, maximum kickass effects. jarjar barely registers on his own BAM (Binks Annoyance Meter). Stunningly, 3Po is more annoying. Anakin is dark, conflicted, and unruly, internally and with others. some intensity, lascivious, evil smiles and smouldering looks. desire for control, combined with fear and hatred are played out well. This factor running on high, combined with the love factor running on high, are juxtaposed nicely good conflict, humor, and foreshadowing between Ani and Obi-wan. Ewan MacGregor's acting is great. Padme is crafty and kicks some ass, though she again changes outfits at every camera break- away. I think she has three outfits on Tatooine even though she is there for a day. still, she manages to look hot in every outfit; the flight suit really is the cutest tho. (how WAS she able to get a nip-on in the middle of the desert? :)..) good and varied sets: the tunisian set for Tatooine, and the Spanish villa set for the Naboo romance scenes are a good contrast a visual treat. cool techo gadgets and ships. street scenes are tasty. decent music. more and varied aliens, more and varied action, good pacing cast is excellent bad things about the film: Jango Fett is no Darth Maul. I gotta say that though the darth maul showdown in episode I was pretty tasty, there is more character development on Jango Fett. He is crafty, intelligent, logical, skilled, tough, and hardworking, though at the same time less dark and menacing than the sith lords. sort of the blue collar component of the dark side. must be the lack of a lightsaber. Christopher Lee fills that in nicely tho. some parts of the love story are sappy, but I have this issue with love stories in general. There is one part where Anakin is saying to Padme, 'I am suffering; are you suffering as I am suffering?'. This dude in the audience yells out '_I_ am suffering!'. The midnite crowd yells and cheers. I am told that next door in theater 19, people are chanting 'give him some, give him some' as they are rolling around in a field of grass. some of the lines are stilted and some of the acting/"emoting" did not get the appropriate response from the (midnite) audience some of the CGI is not so hot, but I have that problem with CGI in general viewing parameters: view multiple times on the big screen
