Scotland, PA ------------ For some reason, I imagine Sean Connery saying: 'Shakespeare, Dazed and Confused' when ordering a drink Major wood. Nice dark comedy from the Sundance 2001 circuit. Clever little skewer of Macbeth fried and redone in 70's fastfood white trash dipping sauce. All of the witches, ghosts, hallucinations, ambition, power, horror, murder, guilt, brooding, paranoia, stress, and breakdown of the original. Plus quirky humor and lots of 70's kitsch featuring excellent Bad Company soundtrack that works well with the film (party on!). The characters are great & the entire cast is phenomenal. The casting is excellent, featuring tasty performance by Christopher Walken as the detective McDuff. Good cinematography with a remarkable variety of shots, with a low-budget feel that worked well for the film. Good pacing and variable moods make this film a groovy wild ride. Written and directed by Billy Morrissette who was born in 1962, so you _know_ he has a handle on what was happening circa 1975. If you dig creative independent films, check this one out.
