Subject: Man Bites Dog From: ""B. Sue Blair"" , 1994 Man Bites Dog review Have you seen "Man Bites Dog"? Rented that at the fascist Blockbuster regime of censorship (they won't carry "Faces of Death" or my fave staple pornos). French with subtitles by director Remy somebody made in 1990-something. If you like dark humor, it doesn't get any better than this (as far as I know- I've led a sheltered life). If you are grossed out by jokes about murder, feces, and anal invasion, then don't watch this. No, in fact, do watch it and bite me! I hate to give away the whole plot, but it is basically a documentary of a serial killer's day-to-day life taken by a film (not video!) crew. There are some excellent scenes, one-liners (If you don't possess looks, you should possess manners), and even bartending pointers. Basically, an acquaintance of my friend had said that he rented the film (since he is a bourgeois swine and rents foreign films in a feeble attempt to deal on the hip boheme chicks) and found it offensive and pointless. I do not require that films have a point since I never do myself. Anyway, I think that this is the downfall of many films (the attempt at plot). Probably if filmmakers would let their blood drain out of other organs into the brain, they might be able to derive a reasonable plot. Another good film I have seen is "Cafe Flesh" which I shall leave for a future installment since I have been here so long that I am a danger to myself and others by definition of the NOC policy. Yours, etc., -Sue B.
